Tesla has quietly launched a redesigned Model Y sports utility vehicle without any warm-up activities in China at a price that is RMB 13,600 ($1,855) higher than that of its predecessor. The new-look vehicle features a design language similar to that used for its unconventional pickup, the Cybertruck. The bug-eye headlights of the new Model Y come with a large, bright strip on the front end of the vehicle, creating a futuristic feel similar to the Cybertruck. Tesla has also introduced what it called the “first indirect reflective body panel taillight of its kind” with the refreshed crossover, which boasts a driving range that is 30 kilometers (19 miles) longer than the previous version at a starting price of RMB 263,500 ($35,900). Tesla’s aging product lineup in China had reduced its market share from 7.8% in 2023 to 6% in the January to November period last year, according to Bill Russo, founder and CEO of Automobility.
