Tencent has announced its gaming restrictions for minors in China during the 2025 winter break, allowing only 15 hours of gameplay over 32 days. In response to the rise of account-renting services that can help bypass such limits, Tencent Games has upgraded its facial recognition Bomb Lock system with a new risk account database to target accounts suspected of being rented. Flagged account users must verify their identity within three minutes on the relevant device, or face account restrictions. Since its launch during the summer of 2024, the Bomb Lock feature has been deployed over eight million times to combat suspected black-market account rentals, according to Tencent.
