UK-based sportswear group JD Sports has become one of the first major brands to allow purchases to be made directly from popular AI chatbots.
The service, which will be initially only available in the US, will allow customers to search for and purchase its products from Copilot, Gemini and ChatGPT.
JD Sports has partnered with financial infrastructure and digital commerce group Stripe, which will connect the retailer’s payment system to the AI platforms.
“Today’s announcement is an important step into the next era of online shopping and positions JD to be ahead of the curve as the global retail industry embraces AI,” said Jetan Chowk, CTO of the company.
The Greater Manchester-headquartered and London-listed retail group has over 2,500 locations in the US across its primary brand, DTLR and Shoe Palace.
