It is the end of an era at Parc Astérix: 36 years after their construction, the Tours Amoureuses were destroyed on January 14, 2026. Installed at the entrance to the Rues de Paris, the two twin structures, several tens of meters high, welcomed visitors to the park since its opening in 1989. Their demolition marks the symbolic end of the Rues de Paris, an area closed since November 2025 for a titanic renovation project. They will soon give way to the future Londinium zone, planned for 2028.

Goodbye Paris, hello Londinium

Planned for a long time in an area of the park already closed to the general public for work, the demolition of the Tours Amoureuses frees up space for Londinium, a new thematic area inspired by the album Asterix among the Bretons. Scheduled for 2028, it will completely replace the old zone Through Timeby offering immersive settings and unique attractions. This project is part of an investment of 250 million euros by 2030, which provides for a global modernization of the amusement park. In total, the expansion will increase the capacity of the park to +20%, which will increase its attractiveness and turnover.

Egypt and Greece: other key projects

After initial work in 2024, Egypt will extinguish its aura this year on the former Place 1900. The Flying Chairs become The Flight of Ibis, the Oxygenarium is transformed into Descent of the Nile, and a 200 m² aquatic playground is created. The Circus mutates into Comptoirs d’Épidemaïs, to prolong the ancient immersion. The following year will also be devoted to ancient Greece, notably with the opening of the Hôtel L’Odyssée, designed by Thierry Retif, which will open in 2027, but also the arrival of three attractions and a restaurant. Enough to extend the temporal immersion through the adventures of the little mustachioed Gaul.

Compete with Disneyland

If it is a redesign based on the existing rather than a truly new area, the successive openings planned for the park target the ambitions of Disneyland Paris, which will soon open its land dedicated to the Snow Queen. After the opening of Avengers Campus in the summer of 2022, the park is preparing to double its surface area with a brand new Adventure Bay lake and an enchanting World of Frozen, which will open in preview next March. A unique space, designed as a complement to the Frozen land of Hong Kong, Arendelle Castle promises to turn heads, and wallets. We will have to fight back for Asterix.
