TSMC has submitted a construction permit for its new Fab 25 facility in Taichung to the local science park authority, according to official filings and media reports. The fab will serve as a key production site for the company’s next-generation A14 process, with mass production targeted for the second half of 2028.

The A14 process features TSMC’s NanoFlex Pro standard cell architecture, delivering full-node performance and efficiency gains over the N2 process—up to 15% faster at the same power, or 30% lower power at the same speed, with logic density improved by over 20%. The project carries a total investment of about $49 billion and is expected to create around 4,500 jobs once fully operational. [IThome, in Chinese]
