The iPhone 18 Pro’s Dynamic Island is changing. And now, thanks to a new leak, we may know exactly how much smaller it’s going to be. Here are the details.
iPhone 18 Pro’s new Dynamic Island could be 35% smaller
Until recently, rumors about the iPhone 18 Pro’s Dynamic Island cutout have been consistent in only one way: they’ve said that it’s changing.
Some sources indicated the change would be more radical, with the cutout shrinking to a hole-punch size and moving to the top-left corner. Others, however, indicated we’ll simply get a smaller version of the existing pill-shaped design.
Earlier this week, a pair of reputable sources gave significant weight to the latter possibility.
iPhone 18 Pro will reportedly keep the traditional pill-shaped, center cutout—but shrink it significantly.
Per leaker Ice Universe, the new Dynamic Island will be about 35% smaller than its predecessor.
Going from 20.76 mm to 13.49 mm is a big reduction. It should be very obvious in everyday use, and likely even easy to spot when observing someone else’s iPhone in the wild.
The latest rumors indicate this smaller Dynamic Island will be exclusive to the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. It reportedly won’t come to the base iPhone 18 or iPhone Air 2.
