XPeng has merged its autonomous driving center and smart cockpit center into a new General AI Center, according to sources familiar with the matter. The new unit is led by former autonomous driving head Liu Xianming and reports directly to chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng.

The General AI Center is positioned as a cross-domain AI organization covering vehicles and robots. It will be structured around foundation models, infrastructure, platform-level delivery, and product and project quality management, sources said.

The center’s AI technology platform is expected to serve multiple application layers, including intelligent driving, smart cockpits, and robotics, providing shared underlying capabilities across XPeng’s product lines. [LatePost, in Chinese]
