Smartphones for kids are becoming more popular, as many parents want to be able to reach their children while limiting the negative effects of being online. AT&T’s new amiGO Jr. Phone offers what the carrier calls a “simple and safe” experience, built by Samsung.

It comes with built-in parental control features that can be managed from the AT&T amiGO app on Android and iOS. Features include Live Location, Safe Zone alerts, schedules to limit phone use during school, time limits for overall usage, and ways to monitor your child’s activity in apps.

The phone is IP54-rated and billed as durable, but it’s unclear how many drops it can withstand, as there’s no sign of screen protection tech or a bumper-like design. AT&T hasn’t shared an exact age range for when it believes this device would be appropriate, either.

It features a 6.7-inch Full HD display, an Exynos 1330 chipset, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of space with microSD support up to 1.5TB, and 5G connectivity. There’s also a 5,000mAh battery with fast charging, which gets it to 50% in 30 minutes.

The cameras include a 50MP wide-angle alongside a 5MP ultra-wide and a 2MP macro lens. The front of the phone comes with a 13MP shooter. The handset also runs Android 16, though AT&T has yet to make any promises about future software updates.

You can buy the phone from today for $209.99, with monthly plans starting at $2.99. The brand also introduced a second-gen smartwatch for kids, $169.99 amiGO Jr. Watch 2.
