The Oppo Find X9 Ultra is reportedly preparing for a wider international release later this year, with new leaks outlining early battery and display specifications for the company’s next Ultra-branded flagship.
Recent sightings suggest that Oppo has begun public testing of Find X9 Ultra prototypes, signalling that development has moved beyond early lab stages and into broader validation ahead of an expected launch window.
Leaker Yogesh Brar shared details on X and said that the information comes from an Engineering Validation Test unit, which represents an early prototype phase before the Design Validation Test and Production Validation Test stages.
Engineering Validation Test devices typically allow manufacturers to assess hardware stability and component integration, though specifications can still change before final production begins.
According to Brar, Oppo initially tested the Find X9 Ultra with a 1440p OLED display sourced from BOE featuring a 144Hz refresh rate, placing it among the highest refresh rate panels currently explored for flagship smartphones.
However, Brar expects retail models to ship with a 120Hz panel instead, aligning the device more closely with established competitors such as Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra and other premium Android flagships.
A shift from 144Hz to 120Hz would reflect a broader industry trend prioritising battery efficiency and thermal stability over marginal gains in screen refresh smoothness at the top end.
Battery capacity appears equally ambitious at the prototype stage, with Brar claiming that early units include a 7,050mAh battery, which would exceed most current flagship capacities.
However, that figure remains lower than the approximately 7,500mAh capacity previously hinted at by an Oppo executive in December, and it’s smaller than the ‘cheaper’ Pro model’s 7500mAh cell, indicating that final battery specifications could still evolve before launch.
Large battery capacities have become increasingly common in Chinese flagship devices, particularly as manufacturers balance high-resolution displays and advanced chipsets with improved endurance targets.
The Find X9 Ultra is currently expected to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and could debut in China before the end of March, with a broader global rollout reportedly planned a few months later.
Oppo has not officially confirmed specifications, pricing or regional availability for the Find X9 Ultra, and final details are likely to emerge closer to its anticipated launch window.
