The cybersecurity company Proofpoint has acquired Acuvity, specialized in enterprise AI security and governance. Especially in agentic AI work environments, which will strengthen the Proofpoint platform with visibility, governance and runtime protection for AI and agent-driven workflows.
This transaction enables Proofpoint to expand its human- and agent-centric security platform to deliver comprehensive visibility and control across the entire agentic work environment, with humans and AI agents collaborating to execute business-critical workflows.
Acuvity’s native AI security capabilities enable enterprises to more confidently adopt generative AI, while ensuring that innovation does not occur without lowering expectations for protection, compliance, or trust.
Acuvity will therefore enhance Proofpoint’s portfolio in security related to the way people and AI agents work, communicate and interact with data, while enabling organizations to adopt AI safely and with confidence.
The company brings new control points and detection models designed specifically for AI. Its platform offers visibility and comprehensive application across the full range of AI use in the enterprise. From endpoints and web browsers to emerging AI infrastructures. Such as Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and AI tools installed locally.
Combined with AI-powered detection models that understand both context and intent, Acuvity enables enterprises to govern and ensure that users and systems interact with external AI services, while protecting custom AI models and applications developed or deployed within the enterprise.
Ultimately, the purchase strengthens Proofpoint’s portfolio of products and services, which will now feature collaborative security to protect people from human-centric threats, data security and governance to defend sensitive information at any point from being accessed only by the people and AI that should use it, and AI security to govern the use of enterprise AI and protect models and applications.
Ryan Kalember, Director of Strategy at Proofpointhas pointed out that «AI agents are becoming active participants in the enterprise, accessing data, executing tasks, and making decisions alongside people. Securing this new working model requires understanding human intent, agentic behavior, and risk in real time. Together, Proofpoint and Acuvity enable organizations to confidently adopt AI tools and agents with the governance, visibility and control needed to manage risk. By protecting humans, defending data, and governing AI through a unified platform, Proofpoint is uniquely positioned to protect the agent work environment end-to-end, something no other cybersecurity company offers today.”.
Satyam Sinha, CEO of Acuvityu and one of its foundershas commented for his part that «AI is radically transforming the way we work, and businesses are overwhelmed by the pace of AI adoption and the complexity of securing it. In a world accelerated by AI, intelligence is no longer limited to applications or infrastructure: it lives in the interactions, decisions, and autonomous agents that act on our behalf. Securing that future requires a new approach, one that governs how AI thinks, acts and learns in real time.”.
