Apple has confirmed it will host an event on March 4, with new MacBook laptops and a new iPhone 17e possibly on the agenda. In invites sent to the press, Apple is promising a “special Apple experience” during the event in New York City, which begins at 9am eastern time in the USA. That’s 2pm UK time.

Apple has also sent invites for events in London and Shanghai, which suggests the company will offer media members an opportunity to go hands-on with whatever is announced. And, on that front, Apple may have plenty to show off.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman Apple may debut the first MacBook with an A-Series processor. Apple is rumoured to be deploying the A18 Pro chip featured within the iPhone 16 pro range in order to bring down the cost of the laptop. That’s probably the most interesting arrival, as it’s a break from the norm and potentially a chance for more people to buy a MacBook.

I’m expecting this low cost MacBook, new MacBook Airs, new MacBook Pros, new Mac displays over the course of the next several weeks. There’s also a new Mac Studio, iMac and Mac mini this year. Huge year for the Mac. And that doesn’t even include the touch MacBook Pro end of 2026. https://t.co/gcAKwOVHpb

Also on the agenda “over the next several weeks” according to Gurman has a MacBook Air with the M5 processor. The MacBook Pro is set for a major power upgrade with M5 Pro an M5 Mac versions also said to be on the way. One has to assume these products, and the rumoured new Mac displays, will now be reserved for the March 4 event. It’s possible Apple may save the forthcoming iPhone 17e for this event too, with previous reports suggesting an imminent launch.

Whether Apple chooses this event to show off the latest Apple Intelligence features, including the long-awaited Siri rebirth now powered by Google Gemini remains to be seen. Some reports say Apple is delaying major features, beyond the expected iOS 18.4 release.

We’ll have full coverage of the event on March 4.
