You’ll need an Apple TV subscription if you want to watch Formula 1 at home this season in the United States. But, Apple is taking its new broadcasting rights beyond the living room. In a partnership announced today with IMAX, Apple TV will also show select races from this season live in theaters.

Five of the 2026 Grand Prix’s will be shown at IMAX screens across the country, including Silverstone, Miami, Monaco, Monza and Austin.

Last year, Apple made a big IMAX splash with the fictional F1: The Movie, starring Brad Pitt. This year, it hopes to repeat the box office feat with screenings of real F1 races.

From the announced races included in this event, that means the first IMAX race will be Miami on May 3. The companies said the races will be shown at more than 50 IMAX locations across the United States.

Apple Services VP Oliver Schusser said in a statement “by bringing F1 on Apple TV live to IMAX theaters nationwide, we’re delivering the energy and excitement to even more screens in a truly immersive way”.

The announcement is part of IMAX’s wider strategy to expand cinemas beyond theatrical movies, leaning heavily on live sports and music concert events for future growth.

On a related note, last week, Apple also said that access to Formula 1 broadcasts in restaurants, bars and clubs will be provided through a deal with EverPass Media. EverPass powers television access in commercial establishments across the US. The Apple deal encompasses F1, MLS and MLB Friday Night Baseball.

Formula 1 is streaming exclusively on Apple TV beginning March 7. Here’s all the details.
