On Friday, Foxconn and OpenAI announced a strategic partnership to jointly advance the design and manufacturing of next-generation AI infrastructure hardware in the United States. Under the agreement, OpenAI will provide insights into emerging hardware needs in the AI industry to support Foxconn’s development of key data-center equipment, including racks and components. Foxconn, leveraging its scale as the world’s major electronics manufacturer, will produce cables, power systems and networking gear at its US facilities to strengthen the local supply chain. The companies plan to pursue multiple projects in parallel to speed the deployment of advanced AI systems and bolster hardware capacity for the US AI ecosystem. The initial agreement does not include purchasing commitments or financial obligations. [Icsmart, in Chinese]
