Four years ago, the UK convened the first global AI Safety Summit at Bletchley Park – a symbolic setting that reminded the world of Britain’s computing heritage and of the responsibility that comes with leadership.
Last month, that conversation continued in New Delhi at the fourth annual AI summit – proof that what began as a UK-led initiative has evolved into something far more important: a truly international forum for shaping the most transformative technology of our time.
That, in itself, is worth recognising.
At a moment of rising geopolitical tension and diverging regulatory regimes, the simple fact that governments, researchers and businesses are still gathering around the same table is important. While AI will not recognise borders, poorly designed regulation, fragmented standards and national silos absolutely will – so it is integral the world continues to hold coordinated conversations….
