Didi’s autonomous driving unit on Monday announced the start of a 24/7 fully driverless Robotaxi trial in select demonstration zones in Guangzhou, following its deployment of autonomous services at the 15th National Games of China. Users can now request a fully autonomous ride through the Didi app, with the ability to change destinations or safely stop the vehicle during trips. The trial covers high-traffic areas including subway stations, schools, and shopping centers. Passengers can also contact remote customer service via the in-car screen. The company said the trial marks a new stage in its service capabilities, with plans to expand to additional cities and accelerate the commercialization of autonomous driving services.
