According to the Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Index Annual Reportwhich analyzes the progress of companies worldwide in cloud adoption, as well as the challenges that IT managers face in the face of the advance of AI and the need to modernize applications and infrastructure in the company, also points out, among other things, that 59% of respondents think their organization will have more than five AI applications in the next three years.

This report has revealed the sharp increase in AI adoption in the last year, which is driving a new wave of infrastructure modernization. In this framework, containers have become a key element of the enterprise application strategy. So much so that 85% of respondents say that AI is accelerating the adoption of containers to improve speed, reliability and scalability.

Organizational silos create new risks around AI, and while its adoption is driving innovation, it is also opening up new challenges. 82% of respondents point out that the existence of silos between business units and IT teams makes it difficult to effectively execute technology initiatives. This delays deployments and increases complexity.

Invisible technologies are also generating different challenges related to AI. The use of hardware, software, applications with or without AI, or services, without the authorization, knowledge or supervision of the technology department has gained more prominence with the arrival of AI. 79% of those surveyed claim to have detected AI applications or agents implemented by employees from areas outside of IT.

Additionally, 87% believe that using AI without authorization carries risks such as potential exposure of sensitive data and intellectual property. This points to the need to strengthen collaboration between IT teams and different business areas to ensure that AI deployments are secure, compliant and in line with organizational objectives.

61% of IT managers expect AI agents to improve the customer or employee experience. 58% also expect that they will contribute to improving productivity and efficiency. Another 57% believe that AI agents will be able to play a more strategic role and help create new products, services or revenue streams.

For 80%, data sovereignty is a key priority in infrastructure decision-making. In fact, regulatory compliance obligations lead companies to keep data in the country in which it was collected. 57% see it necessary to operate their infrastructure in a single country, either in local environments or in a local cloud region. Above all for security and data protection.

Enterprises, as we have mentioned, are turning to containers to support AI workloads as well as modern application development. 87% of respondents predict that the use of containers for AI and non-AI applications will increase over the next three years. 83% say they are already developing new applications in containers. Additionally, 85% believe that AI is accelerating this adoption. On the other hand, 82% point out that if they had to deploy AI workloads locally, their current infrastructure would not be completely ready to support it.
