Born to Bowl, Colosio: What’s New to Watch on HBO Max the Week of March 13, 2026

HBO Max will merge with Paramount+ later this year, so things are a bit nebulous at the streaming service. It still has plenty to watch every week, and here’s our picks for the best shows to catch, plus everything new streaming below. This week focuses on both HBO’s long-storied reputation for high-quality documentaries, as well as partner network CNN’s investigative reporting.

This Week on HBO Max: PCMag’s Picks

Born To Bowl (March 16)

Bowling doesn’t get a lot of respect, but to master the art of getting the ball where it needs to go requires a very specific set of skills that few people can muster. New HBO docuseries Born to Bowl follows pro pin punishers Kyle Troup, Anthony Simonsen, E. J. Tackett, Cameron Crowe, and Jason Belmonte on the PBA tour as they struggle for that perfect 300 with consistency and charisma.

The Whole Story with Anderson Cooper: What Happened to Nancy Guthrie? (March 17)

Watching a true crime story unfold day by day is an experience that only our information-poisoned society can share, but the Nancy Guthrie case is just too weird to look away from. The mother of an NBC News journalist vanishes from her Arizona home. Multiple ransom notes demand payments of millions of dollars in bitcoin. And Kash Patel’s FBI seems to be bungling the investigation at every step. It’s a wild one, and it’s only getting wilder. Anderson Cooper takes us all through it this week.

Colosio: Political Assassination (March 19)

The killing of a presidential candidate seems like the kind of thing you’d see on an HBO drama series, but Colosio explores one of the times it’s happened in real life. Luis Donaldo Colosio was the Institutional Revolutionary Party’s candidate for Mexico’s top job in 1994, building support by pledging to end the exploitation of indigenous people by the government. Just a few weeks later, he was killed by a lone gunman at a rally in Tijuana, but conspiracy theories have never stopped, and the case was reopened in 2022 to investigate further.
