YouTube creator DirectorFeng is back with another ASMR-themed video in which they attempt to upgrade the storage on a new Apple device. Watch it below.

Would you do it?

Last year, we covered DirectorFeng’s attempt to upgrade the iPhone 17 Pro Max to 2TB of storage, which ran into NAND incompatibility issues.

Still, the ASMR-themed teardown video made for an interesting watch, if you’re into that sort of thing.

Now, DirectorFeng is back with a new “immersive teardown” in which they successfully upgrade a 256GB MacBook Neo to 1TB.

The process, however, was not at all simple. After detaching the logic board and revealing its innards, DirectorFeng desolders the MacBook Neo’s 256GB NAND chip, cleans everything up, and then solders in a 1TB replacement.

After everything is put back together, DirectorFeng boots the MacBook Neo, goes through the necessary DFU steps with the help of a second Mac, and finally shows the details of their new 1TB MacBook Neo in System Settings.

Check out the full video below:

Interestingly, DirectorFeng does not appear to be the first to attempt this particular mod.

In the video’s comment section, viewers pointed to another repair creator, Yang Changshun, who reportedly performed the same upgrade during a live stream, though the video does not appear to be available on YouTube.
