If the classic display of tabs on a horizontal bar is suitable when you open 5 or 6 of them, beyond a certain limit, it becomes difficult to find your way around, because the space available to display the list of tabs in a window becomes restricted. To resolve this problem, some browsers offer an alternative display: vertical tabs. Instead of putting the list of tabs on a horizontal bar, these allow you to have this list on a vertical bar, on the side, which allows you to read the title of each page.

And, the good news is that Google Chrome has finally adopted this feature. To take advantage of it, simply download the latest version of the browser, for computers. Then, all you have to do is right-click on the horizontal tab bar, then click on “Show tabs vertically”.

The vertical display not only makes it easier to find the tab you’re looking for, it also allows you to better manage tab groups on Google Chrome. Therefore, Google believes that users can save time with this feature.

Google Chrome also improves reading mode

Still with the aim of improving the productivity of Chrome users, Google has also just updated Reading Mode, which allows users to focus on the text of a page (such as an article), without seeing other elements that may distract it. On the enhanced version, when the user right-clicks on a page and then clicks “Open in Reading Mode,” the minimalist view opens to a full-screen interface.

However, it should be noted that Google seems to be rolling out these new features gradually, since the company is talking about the start of deployment. Therefore, you may have to wait a little longer before taking advantage of these browser features.

But, in any case, thanks to this update, Google Chrome becomes more competitive, compared to competing products. Today, in addition to its traditional competitors, such as Brave, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, or even Opera, Google Chrome must also face competition from new browsers designed to allow artificial intelligence to increase user productivity. Among these are Dia from the creator of Arc Browser, Comet from Perplexity, as well as Atlas from OpenAI. And OpenAI has already announced a new super app project that will bundle ChatGPT, the Atlas browser, and other tools into a single product.
