Thrill seekers are treated to a nice surprise for the end of October. A classic from our childhood is finally coming to PC. Dementium : The Ward, one of the very rare horror games released on Nintendo DS, finally arrives on PC October 27just in time for Halloween. An unexpected resurrection for this cult title, as curious as it is disturbing, which returns in a version faithful to the original but adapted to a single screen, obviously.
Originally released in 2007, Dementium: The Ward takes place in an abandoned hospital, where the player plays an amnesiac man trying to understand what he is doing there. Between the corridors plunged into darkness, the nightmarish creatures and the atmosphere of Silent Hillthe game had marked an entire generation. On PC, the title trades its tactile gameplay for classic first-person controls, but retains its period aesthetic and its deliberately grainy artistic direction.
If the title looks like a new opus in the Silent Hill franchise, it’s actually because it was originally supposed to be one. The Renegade Kid studio proposed the concept to Konami, who politely refused to entrust its legendary license to a small independent team. The project therefore became Dementium : The Wardwhich has established itself over the years as a little gem of minimalist horror, often cited among the strangest experiences of the DS. The elders will remember it.

It’s THE season of horror
The return of Insanity comes at the right time, Halloween 2025 promises to be particularly busy for fans of the genre. In recent weeks, the horror game market has experienced a real boom. Among the notable new developments of the period, Little Nightmares III continues the nightmarish vein of the saga by offering environments that are both cute and disturbing, in co-op this time. Silent Hill f plays the card of the oppressive sensations of the original franchise while Cronos : The New Dawn pushes the horror further with a register at the Dead Space.
Totally in another style, Insanity is primarily aimed at players who like retro horror, pixelated aesthetics and confined atmospheres, but also at those who want to diversify their Halloween season without looking for state-of-the-art visual effects. In a market saturated with remakes and blockbusters, finding a strange and nostalgic little title reminds us that horror can also be made with few resources
