In 2024, the connected watches market has continued its constant progression for ten years, to the point of tapping $ 50 billion in turnover worldwide. In this universe dominated by Apple, Garmin and Samsung, Amazfit tries to impose his paw with a more accessible and resolutely outdoor -oriented approach. The T-Rex 3 embodies this ambition: an ultra-resistant watch, thought for adventurers and displaying autonomy that its competitors can envy.
But what does this watch really be worth in the face of tenors of the sector? At less than 300 euros, can it compete with models twice as expensive? We tested it in different conditions: town race, trail sessions on muddy trails in the forest and bicycle walks. Verdict.
A military and robust design
The Amazfit T-Rex 3 clearly displays its ambitions: an adventurer watch capable of facing the most extreme conditions. With its reinforced case, in accordance with 15 military standards (MIL-STD-810G), it is resistant to temperatures ranging from -30 to +70 ° C and can support immersion up to 100 meters deep. Its massive design, recalling the more imposing watches of the Fenix Famme at Garmin, forces respect, but its comfort remains appreciable thanks to a flexible silicone bracelet. And this, despite a weight that borders on 70 g (68.3 g). Massive, but not uncomfortable in short.
A bright and readable amoled screen
One of the strengths of this T-Rex 3 is its 1.5-inch AMOLED screen (against 1.3 inches for the Garmin Fenix 8) offering a resolution of 480 X 480 pixels and a brightness of up to 2,000 nits. This guarantees perfect legibility, even in direct sunlight. The fluid and well-appointed interface allows intuitive navigation, and Always-On Display mode provides permanent access to essential information. But this option has an impact on autonomy of course.
An impressive autonomy
This is one of the main selling arguments of the watch: its autonomy. With a 700 mAh battery, it promises up to 27 days of use in standard mode and approximately 10 days in intensive use (GPS permanently activated, notifications, activity monitoring). During real tests, it easily holds two weeks with mixed use, which largely surpasses most competing smartwatchs. In short, we can leave the Always-On Display Active mode!
Solid sports and outdoor performance
The T-Rex 3 is above all intended for outdoor lovers. It offers some 177 sporting modes (it also recognizes no less than 25 bodybuilding movements) and supports activities such as diving (certification up to 45 meters), trail, mountain biking or climbing. Its double GPS frequency ensures increased precision during course follow -up, and the watch incorporates a 4.0 biotracker sensor allowing the heart rate to be measured, the blood oxygen rate (SPO2) and the stress level. It also captures body temperature.
A perfectible ecosystem
If the watch shines with its robustness and autonomy, its ecosystem presents some shortcomings. The ZEPP application, although complete, is not as intuitive as Garmin Connect or the Polar application. In addition, compatibility with third -party applications remains limited, especially for data export to Strava or Komoot. Finally, the applications store remains very limited, which can frustrate the most demanding users. And you have to quickly switch to paid options to take full advantage of coaching advice. Fortunately, regular promotions allow them to be tested at a lower Price.
