Accenture has confirmed the purchase of the benchmarking, network intelligence and customer experience analytics company Ookla, owner of, among other services, Speedtest, DowndetectorRootMetrics or Ekahau. All of its products will be integrated into Accenture’s portfolio of services for Communications Service Providers (CSPs), hyperscalers and companies that need to optimize their WiFi and 5G communications networks.
Ookla was founded in 2006 and until now was owned by Ziff Davis. It has an approximate staff of 430 experts in software engineering, radio frequency and data science. Ookla’s data platform has approximately 250 million consumer-initiated tests each month, complemented by integrated testing options, controlled sampling and guidance. Combined, these elements provide quality of experience, signal data, radio frequency and quality of service information that answers connectivity questions.
Based in Seattle, Ookla has a portfolio of products focused on widely recognized connectivity, of great relevance for companies in the areas we just mentioned, with the objective of allowing CSPs to take advantage of real-time data so that autonomous networks improve their planning and benchmarking, in addition to performing predictive simulations and obtaining AI-based information to improve investments in infrastructure and reduce costs in operations.
For hyperscalers and cloud providers, Ookla tools allow them to ensure the resilience of AI infrastructure and data centers at the edge. For businesses in general, Ekahau’s specialized software and hardware tools allow them to design and troubleshoot private 5G and WiFi networks.
