Acer confirms price hikes are coming this week

Acer has confirmed that it will raise prices on its PC products starting February 20, 2026. The announcement comes amid a global memory crisis that has already pushed other manufacturers to increase costs.

In a post shared on Acer’s Predator Gaming JPN account, the company pointed directly to rising prices for memory and SSDs as the reason behind the decision. Customers have until February 19 to purchase at current prices, after which revised pricing will take effect on Acer’s official online store.

The announcement did not specify which products will be affected, but it is reasonable to expect laptops, desktops, and gaming PCs to see higher prices. These devices rely heavily on RAM and storage, the components most impacted by the shortage.

Peripherals such as monitors, mice, and keyboards are less likely to be affected, since they do not depend on memory or SSDs.

At this stage, it remains unclear whether the price hikes will apply globally or only in Japan. Because the announcement came from Acer’s Japanese account, the adjustment may be region‑specific. However, given the widespread nature of the memory shortage, similar increases in other markets would not be surprising.

The memory crisis has been building for months. Demand from AI workloads, data centers, and high‑performance computing has strained supply chains, driving up costs for RAM, SSDs, and even GPUs. Consumers have already seen prices rise across multiple brands, and Acer’s move reflects the broader industry trend.

Gamers will see that this timing is critical. Anyone considering an Acer laptop or gaming PC has only a short window to lock in current pricing before February 20. After that, higher costs will likely become the norm until supply stabilises.

Acer emphasised that it remains committed to delivering value despite the increases. The company framed the revision as necessary to keep pace with rising component costs, while promising to continue improving its products.

Ultimately, Acer’s announcement highlights the ripple effect of the memory crisis. With demand showing no signs of slowing, consumers should expect more brands to follow suit, making February 19 the last chance to buy Acer hardware at lower, current prices.
