AerynOS 2026.03 is now available as the newest release of this from-scratch Linux distribution originally known as Serpent OS. With this month’s update comes GNOME 50, KDE Plasma 6.6.3, and various Wayland compositor updates alongside other software improvements.
AerynOS 2026.03 released today with the GNOME 50 desktop, Wayland 1.25, Qt 6.11 + KDE Plasma 6.6.3, FFmpeg 8.1, Mesa 26.0.3, and dozens of other package updates. Plus there is updates to available Wayland compositors like MangoWM, BlueTUI, Awww, and others.
AerynOS’ Moss package management solution gained the ability this month to search by binary provider if trying to find out what package provides a given binary.
Past 2026.03, AerynOS developers are working to upgrade their Python stack, continuing to work toward versioned repositories, and other improvements to their distribution tooling.
