On Wednesday’s hour-long show, each act gradually learned their fate as they took the stage by twos, with only one advancing to the Top 5.
By the end, host Terry Crews announced the three who received the most votes, as well as the ones for whom it was the end of their AGT journey.
The contestants who made it through were Unreal, Bay Melnick Virgolino, and Leo High School Choir, the latter being revealed last.
ANGRY FANS
However, fans weren’t pleased with the high school choir taking one of the spots in the semifinals, with many complaining that their performance wasn’t as strong as the others.
“Leo High school Choir is in the top 3….?” one puzzled viewer wrote on X.
“The Choir???? I’m done. I’m so done,” another said.
“Anyone but the choir,” pleaded a third.
“Please don’t let the choir through. They were pitchy and off key,” remarked a fourth.
“AGT the choir was sooo off key. Didn’t enjoy that,” echoed a fifth.
Viewers were excited when the tables turned, and they were in control of who advanced to the next round, leading up to Wednesday’s results, especially after voicing their frustration with the judges online.
Mel B, in particular, confused fans after delivering her Golden Buzzer to just the second act of the evening, Mama Duke, who rapped an original song.
She seemed to backtrack on her decision several times after, as she told multiple acts that she would’ve pressed the button for them if she could.
Howie Mandel was also very vocal with his thoughts throughout the episode, as not everyone won over the comedian with their performances.
He didn’t love military veteran Benjamin Hightower’s rendition of Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up, despite being a fan-favorite, as he sang Pink Pony Club for his audition.
America’s Got Talent judges

THOUSANDS of hopefuls have graced the America’s Got Talent stage to showcase their abilities.
Here is some more information about the A-list judges for season 20:
Simon Cowell – On October 22, 2015, it was revealed Simon was replacing Howard Stern on the AGT judges panel. He became a judge during the program’s 11th season and has since remained a series regular.
Mel B – In March 2013, Mel B was announced as Sharon Osbourne’s replacement on AGT. She remained on the show for five seasons before leaving in 2018. She made her grand return this year for season 20.
Sofia Vergara – On February 27, 2020, NBC revealed Sofia was replacing Gabrielle Union for AGT season 15.
Howie Mandel – Out of all the panelists, Howie Mandel is the longest-tenured judge on America’s Got Talent. Howie joined the hit reality series during the show’s 5th season, replacing David Hasselhoff.
America appeared to agree, as the singer was booted from the competition in favor of 10-year-old guitarist Bay.
The podcast host also didn’t hold back with his criticism of magician Alain Simonov, although the rest of the panel wasn’t keen on the unique performance.
Meanwhile, Simon Cowell had an unpopular opinion about juggling group Jonglissimo, who ended up being eliminated after coasting into the Top 5.
ONTO THE NEXT
The acts that secured the Top 5 included Jonglissimo, Unreal, Bay, Leo High School Choir, and Stardust.
With Mama Duke’s Golden Buzzer score, she automatically advanced to the finals, leaving only three spots left in the semifinals.
Three acts made it to the semifinals round last week: Jourdan Blue, LightWire, and Sirca Mare.
Twelve acts will compete in the semifinals next week, with only the Top 6 advancing to the finals.
Since the judges gave out all their live show Golden Buzzers, there will not be a Golden Buzzer winner for the semifinals.
