Music streaming service Deezer has revealed almost one in five tracks uploaded to the platform every day is now AI generated.

The company says 20,000 tracks per day are being added to the service, which have been fully generated by artificial intelligence.

At just under $30, the JBL Go 3 is the perfect budget Bluetooth speaker to blast out your tunes this summer, whether you’re studying, enjoying a picnic or working up a sweat on a hike.

Incredibly, the 18% of total track uploads this figure accounts for is up from just 10% in January 2025. That means it has almost doubled in three months.

The figures come courtesy of Deezer’s bespoke AI detection tool, which the company says is capable of identifying 100% of AI music generated using apps like Suno and Udio.

The model is being put into action by of fully removing AI generated content from any recommendations users receive, Deezer says. That at least keeps AI music out of the best wireless earbuds for unsuspecting listeners.

“AI generated content continues to flood streaming platforms like Deezer, and we see no sign of it slowing down,” said Aurelien Herault, Chief Innovation Officer, Deezer in a blog post.

“Generative AI has the potential to positively impact music creation and consumption, but we need to approach the development with responsibility and care in order to safeguard the rights and revenues of artists and songwriters, while maintaining transparency for the fans. Thanks to our cutting-edge tool we are already removing fully AI generated content from the algorithmic recommendations.”

Deezer says it is committed to protecting the copyrights of artists as AI companies continue to train their models on existing copyrighted material.

Opinion

Whichever streaming service can address this scourge fully and completely eradicate music that has used AI in any way whatsoever can take my money.

Personally, I’d like to see Deezer use the tool it has created to remove AI music from its platform completely. Spotify for sure isn’t going to put a stop to it.

“If creators are using these technologies — where they are creating music in a legal way that we reimburse and people listen to them — and are successful, we should let people listen to them,” Spotify co-president Gustav Söderström said last November.

That tells you all you need to know. But then when have you ever known Spotify to care about legit artists?
