Martello, a platform using AI to conduct environmental risk assessments, has secured £1.2m in its latest funding round.
The startup has developed technology that aims to make risk analysis in property transactions faster and more effective.
Environmental assessments are a key process in any property transaction that often relies on vast volumes of data points feeding into extensive reports.
Martello claims its AI system replaces those processes and displays the critical information on an interactive dashboard display.
“In my opinion, the foundations of environmental searches haven’t changed in 20 years—and they are often ambiguous and risk-prone,” said Martello co-founder and chief executive Dr Henry Crosby.
“Martello is bringing much-needed clarity to an increasingly critical part of the conveyancing process. With this funding, we’re building a platform that helps everyone involved in a property transaction make faster, more informed decisions.”
The investment came from Volt backer Fuel Ventures.
“We’re thrilled to back Martello at this early stage. The founding team brings a unique combination of legal domain knowledge and technical innovation, and they’re tackling a problem that’s long overdue for disruption,” said Mark Pearson, managing partner of Fuel Ventures.
“With deep insight into the conveyancing process and strong backing from industry insiders, Martello is well positioned to become the new standard for environmental risk reporting in UK property.”
