Apple has recently concluded its WWDC 2025 keynote, where iOS 26 bags the attention with most of the upgrades and new design tucked inside. While there has been no production announcement as usual during this time of the year’s event, however, a hidden code in iOS 26 is hinting towards its imminent launch.

As per a report by MacRumors, a code in iOS 26 discovered AirPods Pro 3 reference along with the current AirPods Pro and Pro 2. This has been observed in a headphone-related system framework, which hints that work is going on regarding the new product. While Apple has still kept it as a secret, the tech giant accidentally referenced it with “AirPods Pro 2 or later.” However, it was changed to AirPods Pro 2 only later on.

AirPods Pro 3: All You Need To Expect

Based on the previous leaks and rumours, the AirPods Pro 3 are expected to suggest a significant upgrade in both design and functionality. Drawing clues from the AirPods 4, the new Pro model may feature a sleeker, more compact design with a concealed LED indicator and a capacitive touch button for easier pairing. Internally, Apple is rumoured to be testing a new audio chip that could deliver faster performance and improved Active Noise Cancellation.

Health tracking may be a major focus. Apple is reportedly exploring in-ear heart rate monitoring, possibly using acoustic-based sensors rather than traditional optical ones. This would allow for sensor-free, real-time biometric data collection—ideal for fitness users. There’s also speculation about ear-canal temperature sensing, potentially offering more accurate body temperature readings than current wearables.

Other rumoured features include AI-driven contextual assistance and even real-time language translation via the iPhone’s Translate app, hinting at a more intelligent, health-aware, and travel-friendly audio experience.

When should we expect AirPods Pro 3?

While the exact date and timeline of the AirPods Pro 3 launch is still unknown, some past trends suggest that it may launch in September 2025, along with the flagship iPhone series, the iPhone 17 lineup in 2025. For a quick reference, know that the first ever AirPods Pro were launched in 2019 and the AirPods Pro 2nd Gen launched back in 2022, both in September month along with the flagship iPhone launch.

However, we would need to wait for the official launch date announcement of the AirPods Pro 3.
