Alipay experienced a significant bug yesterday during a government subsidy test that resulted in a 20% discount on all orders between 2:40 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. According to a post from a user on the V2EX forum, the bug caused a government subsidy to be applied to transactions in various scenarios, including shopping, credit card payments, and visa fees. The user speculated that the issue occurred during an online test of the subsidy program, allowing users to benefit from the discount without any official authorization. Alipay later confirmed in a statement that it would not seek to recover the discount amounts from users.[Alipay Weibo account, in Chinese]
