A FREE sports channel has landed on Amazon Prime Video with 150 days of live event programming throughout the year.

And you don’t even need to be a paying Prime subscriber to access it.

The channel is entirely dedicated to cue sportsCredit: Alamy

Billiard TV is a 24/7 television network dedicated exclusively to cue sports.

It shows a number of well-known pool competitions.

Billiard TV has several key partners from the sport too, including Pro Billiard Series, Euro Tour, Matchroom Sport, Women’s Professional Billiard Association, International Pool Association, American Poolplayers Association and Accu-Stats.

The broadcaster says that by the end of 2025 it will have streamed more than 50 multi-day professional events totalling more than 1,000 hours of live programming.

Its launch on Prime Video in the UK comes just after it made waves in the US with a big arrival on Prime Video across the pond back in April.

The channel has existed on other platforms for sometime now, also for free, after bursting onto screens in 2021.

This includes Samsung TV Plus, The Roku Channel, Pluto TV and LG Channels.

“It was a big deal for us to announce Billiard TV’s launch on Prime Video in the US earlier this year, and we’re equally thrilled about the channel now being accessible on Prime Video UK,” said Brendan Canning, co-founder and chief commercial officer of Triple B Media, which owns Billiard TV.

“The real winners, of course, are the fans and viewers of cue sports, who are among the most loyal groups of fans out there. Billiard TV aims to superserve a fan base that has been underserved for too long.”

Amazon Prime Video is home to a number of TV channels that many forget exist – and you don’t need a paying subscription to watch them all.

For sports lovers, there’s Wresting Legends TV, FIFA+, Tennis Channel and PGA Tour in the mix.

Other entertainment varies from Hell’s Kitchen and Mr Bean, to Inside Crime and Homes Under The Hammer.

Get more quality TV for free

If you’re tired of paying out on several streaming services like Netflix and Disney+ then there are a growing number of free alternatives around.

While many of these alternatives have been filled with obscure content, more big names like Sky have got on board in recent years offering some quality stuff, which is largely archive but still entertaining.

As well as UKTV, Sony and 5 are among the other players getting involved.

If you haven’t already, give Pluto TV a go, it’s available on pretty much all devices including Fire TV Sticks.

On there you’ll find channels from MTV, with Catfish and Geordie Shore.

Some of the classics are real gems too – I found myself watching long-forgotten episodes of Sabrina the Teenage Witch the other day.
