The Amazon robot fleet has just reached The million units. A milestone since thirteen years ago the first robot was deployed in its warehouses and that the company has celebrated with the presentation of the new Deepfleet model specially designed for robotic systems.

Amazon has the largest industrial robot fleet on the planet in more than 300 facilities distributed throughout the globe. It originally began to develop its robotic capabilities in 2012 after the acquisition of Kiva Systems and since then it has become the world’s largest manufacturer and operator in the world. And he has not stopped including machines to a million units, absolute record in the sector.

The number robot number one million Amazon represents more than a simple figure. The company has improved its robot fleet in recent years, adding new capabilities and models. We have an example in Vulcan, presented last May and defined as its «First robot with a sense of touch».

The million units of its robot fleet aimed at Amazon to get another fact not less: its vast network of warehouses could soon count on The same number of robots as of people. In addition, a report by The Wall Street Journal indicates that 75% of Amazon’s global deliveries already have the assistance of some type of robot.

And what Amazon calls their «New generation logistics centers»which would include ten times more robots than their current facilities, in addition to human workers. The first of these new robotic centers opened at the end of 2024 in Louisiana, near the Texas border.

New Model of AI, Deepfleet

Coinciding with the deployment of one million units, Amazon has announced the launch of a New generative model For their warehouse robots. This AI model, which can coordinate the robots routes within the company’s warehouses more efficiently, will help increase the speed of its robotic fleet by 10% and will allow you to deliver packages to customers more quickly and more quickly.

To believe Deepfleet, Amazon has used Sagemakeran own tool included in the AWS cloud that helps create and implement AI models. The firm says that it trained the model with its own warehouse and inventory data, and that it has parallelism as «An intelligent traffic management system for a city full of cars circulating through congested streets».

Deepfleet represents a practical approach to innovation in AI. Instead of looking for technology by itself, Amazon has focused on solving real problems. By reducing the travel time of robots, «We not only improve efficiency, but we generate tangible benefits: Faster delivery deadlines, lower operational costs and lower energy consumption«. ensures the electronic commerce giant.
