If you want a fully featured tablet that doesn’t cost quite as much as an iPad then Amazon’s latest Prime Day deal has you covered.
Even though its Fire Tablet line-up is probably best known for the options that sit at the more affordable end of the scale, Amazon’s Fire Max 11 is a proper iPad competitor that should not be slept on, particularly when it’s been reduced to such a bargain price.
Typically the tablet would set you back £249.99 at the checkout, but this Prime Day, the Fire Max 11 can be yours for only £144.99. That’s the kind of price cut that made us all do a double take, but if you’re quick then it can be yours.

Forget iPads, this Amazon Fire Tablet is a steal
The Fire Max 11 has long been an affordable Android alternative to the entry-level iPad, but this Prime Day price cut just made it even cheaper.

With that £105 discount in tow, this is the cheapest price that I’ve seen the Fire Max 11 go for this year, and it’s very unlikely that we’ll see anything close to that again until Black Friday in November, so if you’re after a powerful Android tablet on the cheap, this is the deal to go for.
While there are many features worth talking about, the one that stands out above the rest is easily the large 11-inch 2K display. Simply put, this is a gorgeous display to use for streaming, with rich vibrant colours that bring out the best in whatever it is that you’re watching.
Even with that juicy screen in tow, the Fire Max 11 doesn’t fall back on longevity. When discussing the battery life in his four-star review, Mobiles Editor Lewis Painter wrote: “I used the tablet sporadically during a recent five-day trip to Amsterdam, including reading a book on the Kindle app at the airport and on the hour-long flight (in both directions), watching two movies on Netflix on one stormy evening and playing a quick game of Townscapes to pass the time waiting for a cab. Reader, I got home with 30% battery left in the tank.”
Even though it’s a great tablet for entertainment, the Fire Max 11 can be turned into a productivity device if you should so choose. We had no issues with quickly jumping from one app to another, so if you need to write up a document whilst researching in another app, you should get on just fine here.
There’s even an optional keyboard accessory that can be bought to pair with the Fire Max 11, or you could go for any Bluetooth keyboard that fits the bill, like the superbly portable Logitech Keys to Go 2.
Given that the entry level iPad has a starting price of £329, Amazon’s Fire Max 11 is just too good of an alternative for those on a budget, but remember that the deal will only be around for the duration of Prime Day (or while stocks last).
