Need a cost effective laptop for your studies or everyday work? Amazon’s latest Chromebook deal is an instant winner.

I’ve said it plenty of times before but if you want a laptop that provides tons of functionality at a genuinely reasonable price, then you should ignore the Windows crowd and opt for a ChromeOS toting laptop instead.

Case in point, Amazon is now selling the Asus Chromebook 14 CX3402CBA for the low price of just £239.99, a massive 40% cut on the device’s original £399.99 RRP.

The Asus CX34 Chromebook has just plummeted to a bargain price, making it a steal for any students in need of a cheap but feature-packed laptop for their studies.

Having covered the tech industry for the better part of a decade, I’ve come to appreciate just how much value Chromebooks provide to the average consumer, to the point where I constantly recommend them to both friends and family alike.

Take it from me, unless you’re planning on using an application that’s incompatible with ChromeOS, or you need a high-specced laptop for intensive work in animation or video editing, or even dabbling in triple-A gaming, then a Chromebook will suit you just fine.

The core philosophy of these devices is to run the Chrome browser, and all the various applications within it, at an incredibly fast speed. After swapping over to a Chromebook last year, I couldn’t believe how quickly I could boot up the machine, jump between tabs and load web pages.

As someone who works primarily within Chrome, using sites like Google Docs, Canva and more – it has handled all of these applications with ease. If you’re in a similar position with your daily workflow then you might want to consider making the jump yourself.

The Asus CX34 also happens to be one of the better Chromebooks out there, with our 4.5-star review for the device detailing: “the Asus Chromebook Plus CX34 is a fantastic Chromebook for the price, with a great port selection, solid performance and a good display, as well as outstanding battery life.”

For all that the Asus CX34 brings to the table, it’s very unlikely that you’ll find a similarly capable Windows laptop for around the same price, making this an easy win for anyone looking to upgrade.
