AMAZON has launched a brand new and relatively thrifty Fire TV Stick with 4K support.
It’s called the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Select, plugs into the back of your telly to give it some smart upgades, and is already available for pre-order.

The gadget is officially released on October 15, 2025, but the earliest delivery now appears to be October 16 from Amazon UK.
It has the lowest official retail price of any 4K Amazon Fire Stick.
And the 4K just means that you can watch Ultra HD content from apps like Amazon Video, Netflix, or anywhere else that serves up 4K telly.

Just keep in mind that you’ll also need a 4K television to enjoy Ultra HD visuals – otherwise you’ll be capped at the HD or Full HD resolution of your set, even with Amazon’s posh new Fire Stick.
“Our new Fire TV Stick, the 4K Select, helps you maximise every pixel of your 4K TVs at an incredible value,” Amazon said.
The tech giant added that it’s also the “fastest 4K stick under £50”.
That is in part thanks to Amazon’s new TV operating system that it says is “responsive and highly efficient”.
4K FOR REAL
It joins two other Amazon 4K Fire TV Sticks – the regular 4K model and the 4K Max.
Those two serve up HDR and Dolby Vision for better contrast and a broader range of colours, but the 4K Select only supports HDR – not Dolby Vision.
Although it does support HDR+, which is a slightly more advanced HDR format for better visuals.
Additionally, the Select model also has a slightly worse Wi-Fi chip, although Amazon notes that it’s still “high speed”.
Also, like the 4K model, it comes with an Alexa Voice Remote as standard. But it misses the Enhanced remote that ships with the 4K Max.
By contrast, the 4K Fire Stick costs £59.99, and the 4K Fire TV Stick Max will set you back £69.99.

It’ll support all the usual apps you’d want to watch like Netflix, Disney+, and Apple TV+.
And you get access to Amazon’s vast selection of free live TV channels too.
GAME ON!
On top of that, there’s a bonus treat for gamers.
Amazon says that the new Select model will support both Xbox Gaming and its own Luna service.

4
These are both cloud gaming services that could save you the hundreds of pounds it costs to buy a physical games console.
Cloud gaming works a bit like Netflix, but for video games.
You pay a subscription fee and get to enjoy games without needing a console.
The visuals are simply beamed to you from powerful computer systems over your internet connection, so you don’t actually need a physical console.

4
You just need your Fire Stick, a TV, and a compatible wireless joypad – like an Xbox gamepad.
For both services, you’ll pay a monthly fee. But Amazon’s Luna has a special perk for Amazon Prime members that gives you some cloud games at no cost.
That includes hit shooter Fortnite, which is a blockbuster title on proper consoles.
