Mark your calendars, PC builders. AMD’s Ryzen 9 9900X3D and 9950X3D desktop CPUs will finally go on sale on Wednesday, March 12.
The company revealed the launch date and pricing for both CPUs today; the 9900X3D will be $599 while the 9950X3D will cost $699. They’re not cheap, but at least AMD is maintaining the pricing levels from the Ryzen 7900X3D and 7950X3D, which arrived two years ago.
The earlier Ryzen 7 9800X3D, which launched in November, has been hard to find, especially for $479. It’s either sold out or going for as high as $589.

So, PC builders may want to go for the 9900X3D and 9950X3D, which promise even better gaming performance. But we wouldn’t be surprised if both processors sell out on launch day. It’s also possible retailers will jack up the prices given the demand from consumers and scalpers.
AMD first introduced the chips at CES 2025 in January. The X3D processors stand out for their 3D V-Cache chip-stacking technology, which packs more L3 cache onto the processor. This can further boost frame rates, with AMD hailing the 9950X3D as the world’s “best gaming processor.”

Stay tuned for our review. In the meantime, the new X3D chips promise to help AMD take away more market share from rival Intel. Last month, AMD reported record desktop CPU sales in many markets, thanks to the Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor.
