When seeing a new AMDVLK release was just tagged on GitHub and just a few hours to go until the Radeon RX 9070 series announcement, I was hoping it was going to be a new driver officially rolling out their new RDNA4 GPU support. Today’s AMDVLK 2025.Q1.2 driver was not for officially introducing RDNA4 but does bring Strix Halo support and other improvements.
AMDVLK 2025.Q1.2 was just released and introduces support for the newly-launched AMD Ryzen AI MAX “Strix Halo” SoCs. This updated open-source AMD Vulkan driver also updates against the Vulkan 1.4.308 API header files, brings performance optimizations for Creo, handles VK_REMAINING_ARRAY_LAYERS within ImageViewCreateInfo, and enables ReportLargeLocalHeapForApu by default.
AMDVLK 2025.Q1.2 also fixes an odd issue with corrupted GNOME Nautilus file manager windows:
Plus fixes a hang for the Indiana Jones game and addresses various dEQP and Vulkan Conformance Test Suite issues.
AMDVLK 2025.Q1.2 source code as well as pre-built Ubuntu and RHEL binaries are available from GitHub.
