AMD today released AMDVLK 2025.Q1.3 as their official open-source Vulkan API driver for Linux systems. With this update is support for the Navi48 GPU with the recently-launched Radeon RX 9070 RDNA4 graphics cards.
The sole listed change with today’s AMDVLK 2025.Q1.3 update is providing support for the Navi48 GPU as found with the Radeon RX 9070 and Radeon RX 9070 XT graphics cards that are now shipping. No other changes are noted.
This comes a week after the Radeon RX 9070 series began hitting Internet retailers to much fanfare. The Mesa RADV Vulkan driver has been supporting the Radeon RX 9070 series as covered back in the Radeon RX 9070 series Linux review.
I will be working on some AMD Radeon RX 9700 RADV vs. AMDVLK Vulkan Linux gaming benchmarks in the coming days.
