JPMorgan Chase, or Chase Bank, is the largest bank in the US with roughly $3.5 trillion in assets.

The company serves over 82 million consumers and is working to pull in more, offering prospective clients a tempting sign-up deal.

Those who sign up for a Chase Freedom Unlimited credit card can score an intro offer and earn up to $200.

New cardholders must simply sign up and spend $500 on the card within the first three months of opening their account.

The Chase Freedom Unlimited card has no annual fee and customers can enjoy several cashback rewards when using the credit card.

Cardholders will receive 5% cash back on travel purchased through Chase Travel, the company’s premier rewards program that permits clients to redeem rewards for cash back, travel, gift cards, and more.

Customers can also redeem 3% cash back on drugstore purchases as well as dining at restaurants, including takeout and eligible delivery.

Plus, Chase users can enjoy unlimited 1.5% cash back on all other purchases.

There is no minimum amount needed for consumers to redeem their cash back, which can be administered either as a statement credit or direct deposit into most US checking and savings accounts.

Chase’s cash back rewards have no expiration date, and they are available to redeem for as long as a customer’s account is open.

In addition to the cash back, new Chase Freedom Unlimited cardholders can enjoy 0% intro APR on purchases for 15 months.

Chase customers can sign up for the $200 bonus offer if they do not already have the Chase Freedom Unlimited card and have not received a new cardmember bonus for the card in the past 24 months.

PLASTIC PROBLEMS

When prospective cardholders sign up for a new credit card, they generally have to go through a credit check so that banks can ensure that they will be paid back.

The credit check permits them to assess a customer’s creditworthiness, or how likely they are to repay the money they borrow.

Banks view a potential client’s credit history, including their payment history, outstanding debts, and other factors.

The recommended credit score for the Chase Freedom Unlimited credit card is 690 to 850, which falls in the good to excellent rating.

However, if you are new to credit and do not yet have a credit score, you might not be entirely out of luck.

Large US banks such as JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo, along with a handful of other banking giants, are expected to roll out a pilot program in 2025 that uses a new method for approving prospective cardholders, per The Wall Street Journal.

Instead of using a client’s credit score, they will instead assess their bank account activity, including their checking and savings account balances and overdraft history.

Those who recently moved to the US or who solely pay with cash or debit cards typically do not have credit scores and face difficulty when applying for a credit card.

The pilot program, part of a government-backed initiative, aims to extend credit to Americans who do not have a credit score but are financially responsible.

As major US banks eye switching up their requirements to sign up for credit cards, they are also busy making changes to their branch footprints.

For example, one popular bank will open 150 more branches by 2027 – and over 100 locations are already on the way.

Plus, a trusted bank is closing more locations across 13 states as chiefs make an admission to customers.
