The lawsuit benefits customers who purchased Boar’s Head products from May 10 2024 to August 12 2024.

On July 25 and 29, 2024, the food supplier announced a voluntary recall of certain meat products due to a potential listeria contamination.

Listeria is a foodborne illness that can cause serious symptoms in healthy individuals but can be deadly for the vulnerable.

The elderly, pregnant women and immunocompromised individuals in particularly at risk.

Furious customers took legal action quickly against Boar’s Head.

They argued that the company should have known its sold products were contaminated.

The plaintiffs also said that they suffered economic damages after purchasing the contaminated produce.

The meat and cheese company which sells produce in delis and grocery stores across the US did not admit any wrongdoing.

But they did agree to a $3.1million settlement to resolve the allegations.

What is Listeria and why is it dangerous?

Under the terms of the Boar’s Head settlement, class members can receive a full refund for each recalled product they purchased.

But they must provide proof of purchase to be eligible for this refund.

Without proof of purchase, class members can get an average retail price for up to two recalled products per household.

If class members received reimbursement from Boar’s Head for the recalled products, their settlement payment will be reduced by the amount of reimbursement they received.

The final deadline for those who wish to object or exclude in May 16 2025.

To receive the benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form also by May 16.

It comes after at least nine people died from a deadly listeria outbreak tied to a Boar’s Head deli plant in Virginia.

Records showed that the meat and cheese firm’s Virginia plant repeatedly violated federal regulations that may have caused contamination.
