The Internet of Things (IoT) is no longer just about convenience; it is a critical infrastructure component for industries ranging from aerospace to defense. As connected devices proliferate, the need for stringent security and regulatory compliance has never been higher. Amotus, the IoT engineering division of Dimonoff, has just taken a major step in addressing this need by earning registration with the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).

This certification is more than a badge; it legally authorizes Amotus to examine, handle, and transfer controlled goods and technical data, positioning the company as a trusted partner for highly regulated sectors. We spoke with Daniel Noiseux, General Manager of Amotus and Dimonoff, to discuss what this milestone means for their clients and the future of secure IoT development.

Q: Amotus has recently secured registration with the Controlled Goods Program (CGP). Why was this certification a critical step for your division at this specific moment?

Daniel Noiseux:

Securing CGP registration comes at a pivotal moment for Amotus. With the rapid increase in demand for secure and sovereign IoT solutions across defense, aerospace, and critical infrastructure sectors, our clients need more than engineering expertise, they need assurance. This certification affirms our compliance with the strictest Canadian security protocols and validates that our facilities, personnel, and processes meet the federal standard required to handle sensitive technologies. It enables us to proactively support national security and align our growth with industries that operate under high regulatory scrutiny.

Q: The press release mentions that this allows you to handle “controlled goods and technical data.” Practically speaking, what new types of projects or partnerships does this open up for Amotus that were previously out of reach?

Daniel Noiseux:

The CGP registration is a gateway to engaging in projects involving restricted technologies, whether that’s electronics, software, or data related to defense systems, aerospace components, or dual-use technologies. Previously, we were limited in our ability to directly work on projects involving ITAR-controlled components or highly sensitive hardware. Now, we can participate fully, whether it’s designing embedded systems for a military communication platform or developing secure firmware for aerospace-grade devices. This significantly expands our potential partnerships with OEMs, government bodies, and international firms seeking a compliant Canadian engineering partner.

Q: You operate as the IoT division of Dimonoff, combining the agility of a design house with the scale of a tech leader. How does this dual structure help you deliver on complex, compliant projects for industries like defense and aerospace?

Daniel Noiseux:

Being part of Dimonoff gives Amotus a unique edge. We combine the startup-level flexibility of a young company with the resources and maturity of an established tech company. Our team structure allows us to pivot quickly in response to new technical or regulatory requirements while still delivering at scale. We’ve built a full-stack capability, from embedded systems to cloud platforms under one roof, all within secure environments. For regulated industries, this means faster time to market, simplified supply chains, and assurance that every component: hardware, firmware, OS, and cloud, is designed with compliance in mind.

Q: Your platform, Fundamentum, is central to many of your projects. How does having a scalable PaaS (Platform as a Service) simplify the often chaotic process of deploying and managing connected devices securely?

Daniel Noiseux:

Fundamentum was built specifically to address the complexity of managing large fleets of connected assets. It’s not just about device control, it’s about security, scalability, and lifecycle management. With features like secure provisioning, encrypted OTA updates, and granular user access control, Fundamentum ensures that our clients’ devices are not only deployed rapidly but also remain secure and compliant throughout their lifetime. It’s a turnkey tool that transforms complex IoT deployments into manageable, auditable, and scalable operations.

Q: With “over 575 successful projects in 15 countries,” you’ve seen the IoT landscape evolve firsthand. Where do you see the biggest demand for secure, certified IoT engineering coming from in the next few years?

Daniel Noiseux:

We’re seeing accelerating demand in three main areas: defense and public safety, critical infrastructure like energy and utilities, and transportation. All of these sectors are pushing to modernize their systems with IoT while simultaneously tightening their security posture. The convergence of IT and OT (operational technology) is creating new vulnerabilities and the need for certified, trusted engineering partners is more pressing than ever. With our CGP certification, embedded expertise, and platforms like Fundamentum, Amotus is uniquely positioned to answer that call.

The CGP certification marks a significant evolution for Amotus. It transitions the company from a skilled IoT developer into a strategic partner capable of operating within the highest tiers of national and industrial security. By validating their people, facilities, and processes against stringent federal standards, Amotus is offering clients something invaluable: absolute confidence in the integrity of their supply chain.

As industries like defense, aerospace, and energy continue to digitize, the demand for partners who can navigate both complex engineering and complex regulations will only grow. Amotus is now uniquely positioned to meet that demand head-on.
