Behind its reduced measurements (110 X 160 mm for 1.9 kg), the device can project an image up to 100 inches of diagonal. Placed just 39.3 cm from the wall, it covers the maximum screen, while at 8.1 cm, it already delivers an image of 40 inches. Its ultra-short focal length avoids upsetting the interior design and allows the projector to be placed directly on a shelf or a table, then storing it effortlessly after use.
Mini-format, big ambitions
The cinebeam is operating a triple-laser system, dedicated to each primary color (red, green, blue), which provides a coverage of 154 % of the DCI-P3 color space. LG promises deep blacks and precise colors, with a dynamic contrast of 450,000: 1. Its brightness, however, caps up to 500 Lumens ANSI, which will limit its use ideally for darkened parts, even if the manufacturer shows in its demonstrations a use in broad daylight, including for video calls.
The device incorporates several tools to simplify the projection: Development and trapezoidal correction automatic, adjustment of the size and positioning of the image without moving the projector, as well as a mode of adaptation to the colors of the wall, designed for those who do not have a dedicated projection screen.
On the compatibility side, the projector supports HDR10, HLG and offers a “film maker” mode to respect the intention of the directors. A 4K Upscaling engine is also integrated.
The Cinebeam S is not limited to the image. It has two 4 W speakers compatible Dolby Atmos for immersive sound, even if home cinema lovers will undoubtedly opt for a sound bar or an external system.
Under the hood, we find the LG webos platform, with direct access to streaming services such as Netflix, Video or Disney+, as well as an integrated browser. The content can also be shared via AirPlay 2 or Screen Share, and physical connectors (HDMI EARC, USB-C with power supply, additional USB ports) widen the possibilities.
On the design side, LG plays the minimalism card with an elegant metallic finish. The projector presents itself as a technological object that you do not need to hide when it does not work.
Cinebeam has already listed in certain European distributors. In Europe, it is offered at € 1,299, with deliveries expected for September.
