ANDY Reid has made a major decision regarding his offensive line for the playoffs.
The Kansas City Chiefs have the No. 1 seed in the playoffs, and have an extra week to make decisions about their team.
One of the biggest decisions the Chiefs have to make is who will protect Patrick Mahomes.
The Chiefs have dealt with volatility on the left side of the offensive line all season, but they believe the have the solution for the playoffs.
“Listen, I thought D.J. [Humphries] did a pretty good job there,” Reid said.
“[There are] a few plays that he’d probably like to have back, but he’s headed in the right direction, for sure.
“I haven’t made any decisions on that [or] which direction to go right this minute, so we’ll see.
“We’ll get there by the time we get to the end of next week there.”
DJ Humphries missed multiple weeks during the season, but the offensive lineman returned in Week 18 to prepare for the playoffs.
He is a possibility to start at left tackle for the Chiefs’ matchup in the divisional round next week.
“Well, the best part is that they both [Joe Thuney and D.J. Humphries] are good players, and [Mike] Caliendo’s playing well, too, so I’m not too worried about that whole situation,” Reid said.
“We’ll just see how it plays out. [Offensive Line Coach] Andy [Heck] rotates them during the week anyway, so they’ll all get work, and we’ll just go from there.
“Obviously, you want the best combination, but I think in this case, you’ve got three guys there that are pretty good players.”
Offensive guard Joe Thuney has filled in at left tackle for the Chiefs, but he plays his best football at guard.
He was recently named to the All-Pro team for the second time in his career.
Chiefs fans have split opinions about who should start at left tackle for the team, and shared their thoughts on social media.
“I would gladly take Thuney at LT for the playoffs so Patrick settles down in the pocket,” one fan said.

“DJ in his current form is problematic. Joe is Elite and has done great,” another fan said.
“DJ could be solid, but Thuney has proven he can play there and our offense is clicking,” a third fan said.
“The Chiefs are at their best with DJ Humphries at LT and Joe Thuney at LG,” a fourth fan said.
“DJ hasn’t proved anything yet,” a fifth fan said.
The Chiefs have one more week of practice to decide who will take over at left tackle next week.
