Because au -uptable is really the king of animation
If you follow the anime Demon Slayer Since its first broadcast on Crunchyroll, You obviously know the studio UfotableJapanese company spent master in the art of animation and which gives life to the adventures of Train Currently Technology. The talent of the studio is no longer for rent and the already colossal work carried out on the previous seasons of Demon Slayer suggested, at least, an excellent moment on the big screen.
In reality, it is a great moment of animation that Ufotable offers us with the infinite fortress, the first of the three films which constitute the final season of Demon Slayer. A very large moment, reinforced by very high quality OSTs, a high -flying Japanese dubbing – The spectators of the Grand Rex were able to take advantage of the presence in France and for the presentation of the film of Natsuki Hanaethe actor who lends his voice to Tanjiro Kamado – and Dantesque fights – we will come back to this – reinforced by a tasty mix between 2D animation and 3D sets.

The power of Ufotable on this first film is the sense of detail. Whether it is the thousands of buildings constituting the infinite fortress, the folds of the characters of the characters or even their facial expressions, everything is there. The slightest effect, like an explosion, shock or a set of lights is neat. Special mention for the lapping of the water in a basin and its rendering could not be more realistic – towards the middle of the film – with an image dézoom to display the plan in its entirety. To leave you speechless.
Because there are dantesque fights
Who says final arc, says final confrontation. And if the infinite fortress obviously does not solve everything, the story told during the 2h40 film is rich in anthology clashes. She resumes where the last season, the training of the pillars, had ended: the big villain of the anime, Kibutsuji Muzan, determined to get her hands on Nezuko, discovers the pillars’ hideout. A confrontation between the chief of the latter and commits him and while the pillars end up facing him, Muzan propels all the fenders in another dimension, that of the infinite fortress, an endless trap in which his henchmen and the upper moons, his most faithful lieutenants, await our heroes firm.
In the end, three fights constitute the 2h40 of film and do not count on us to give you the content or the culmination. Those who have read the manga will be aware of things and we will obviously leave the surprise to others. But if these three fights do not have the same issues their treatment is remarkable. The special techniques are incredible, their sumptuous rendering and if the sessions to come from Wednesday will not necessarily be filled with fans of the first hour, the latter will certainly not be able to, as us when we view, help but let go of some cries on some movements and reversals of situation during these famous fights. A special mention again: it is for the main fight, the confrontation in the heart of this first film, rich in suspense, twists and turns, opposing Tanjiro, the pillar of water Giyu Tomioka and the upper moon, Akaza, appreciated by fans and particularly expected since the latter killed the pillar of fire Rengoku, in the train of infinity.
Because, and perhaps more than in anime, emotion is there
And Demon Slayer Being up with its technique and animation, animates it, in itself, exposes us the development of a shonen that can be described as classic. We therefore find in this film the same process established during the previous seasons. Each fight, each presentation of an antagonist is only the pretext for a succession of flashbacks, narrating the origins of this character in question. The infinite fortress is no exception to the rule, with a big focus on Akaza.

If the way of operating can interfere – we will also come back to this – at times, if the overall rhythm of the film can be felt, it is clear that the flashbacks introduced in the film deliver their share of emotions. In itself, they allow spectators to learn more about certain characters hitherto relegated to the background, or even practically never mentioned during the six seasons of the anime. But the most important flashback is indeed that of Akaza. If the story of the latter is moving, it is also thanks to the vocal interpretation of doublers on this sequence but also thanks to the choice of music.
Yes but …
Demon Slayer: the infinite fortress is a success and without dispute, the manga event of this end of the year, even if other behemoths arrive in the coming weeks, Like the final season of My Hero Academia or season 3 of One Punch Man, both scheduled for October. It is even the animation phenomenon of this year 2025, thanks to the work and the boundless generosity of Ufotable, which put the means on this first film.

The only problem and the only reproach that can finally be made to this film is its rhythm, unequal during the 2h40 projection. The infinite fortress is a bit long at times, the fault of a main story that is slow to arrive and is dragged in its conclusion. The flashbacks are moving and interesting, as said above, but the concern comes mainly from the moment chosen to introduce them, in other words in full combat, worried already in the anime. Not enough to sulk his pleasure, however. The infinite fortress is to be seen, that we love a little, a lot or passionately Demon Slayer. Certainly, the animation level slap of this (end) of the year.
