Following the theatrical success of Apple Studios’ F1: The Movie, rumors circulated that the company would bring the real-life races to its streaming service. That’s now been confirmed, with Apple inking a deal with Liberty Media, the owners of the motorsport.

Apple TV will be the official broadcaster of Formula 1 in the US starting next season. The deal is good for five years and reportedly costs $750 million. It gives Apple the right to stream all race-weekend events, including practice, qualifying, sprint sessions, and Grands Prix.

The 2026 F1 season has 24 rounds, and some of those races and practice sessions will be streamed for free, Apple says. To unlock the rest of the events and F1 TV Premium, you will have to pay for an Apple TV subscription. The standalone plan costs $12.99 per month, but you could get it for cheaper with a bundle.

Unsurprisingly, Apple will be going all out to “amplify” F1 across its products and services, such as Apple News, Apple Maps, Apple Music, and Apple Fitness+. Additionally, the free Apple Sports app will share live updates for each qualifying, sprint, and race session and display leaderboards for drivers’ and constructors’ standings. There will also be a dedicated widget for the sport on the iPhone’s Home Screen.

Additional details about production and production enhancements will be provided in the coming months, Apple says. Meanwhile, F1: The Movie will begin streaming on Apple TV from Dec. 12.

Apple has been investing in sports over the past few years, bagging streaming deals for MLS, MLB, and now F1. Given the cost of sports streaming, don’t be surprised if Apple raises Apple TV’s fee again next year. The last increase came in August.
