Apple has decided to cancel “The Last Frontier” after one season. Here are the details.
No Season 2 for ‘The Last Frontier’
Despite Apple’s efforts to promote The Last Frontier and what had looked like a good start, Apple has decided to cancel the show after just one season, as reported by Variety.
The Jason Clarke-led series premiered last October to an overall positive reception, but it apparently failed to maintain its initial momentum as it progressed towards its season finale on December 5th.
On IMDb, episode ratings ranged from 7.7 for the debut episode, with the worst-rated episode being the finale, at 6.2.
The Last Frontier tells the story of U.S. Marshal Frank Remnick, played by Jason Clarke (Oppenheimer), who gets involved “in a manhunt for dozens of violent inmates” after a “prison transport plane suspiciously crashes near a rugged Alaskan town”.
Apple greenlit The Last Frontier in February 2023 with a straight-to-series order, which means it committed to producing the entire season without first filming a pilot episode.
The Last Frontier now joins series like Mr. Corman, Constellation, City On Fire, Suspicion, Shantaram, High Desert, Sunny, Time Bandits, Still Up, Dear Edward, and Amber Brown, all of which got cancelled after just one season.
Apple TV is available for $12.99 per month and features hit TV shows and movies like Severance, The Studio, The Morning Show, Shrinking and Silo.
