APPLE has discontinued several iconic gadgets after launching a bunch of new iPhones and more.

The tech giant unleashed four fresh models on Tuesday, including an ultra-thin iPhone Air.

Three new Apple Watches were also revealed, alongside new AirPods.

But as the latest innovations land it means some of last year’s favourites disappear from shelves.

This doesn’t mean those gadgets stop working for those who already own them – far from it, Apple continues to offer support, repairs and updates for many years to come.

Instead, Apple wants new customers or those upgrading to go for its most recent devices instead of the last models that may appear too similar.

This means it’s farewell to the iPhone 16 Pro‌ and ‌iPhone 16 Pro‌ Max on the smartphone front.

They were both launched last year and are replaced by the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

But it’s not the end for all the iPhone 16 models.

The base iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Plus continue to be available – and they’ve had a price drop too.

And while the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max has been discontinued by Apple you might still find stock for it in some third party stores.

Elsewhere, iPhone 15‌ and ‌iPhone 15‌ Plus have been withdrawn two years after their launch.

And on the Apple Watch side, three models have disappeared.

These are the Apple Watch Series 10, Apple Watch Ultra 2, Apple Watch SE 2 – which make way for the Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch Ultra 3 and Apple Watch SE 3 respectively.

Finally, the AirPods Pro 2 have gone to make space for the new and improved AirPods Pro 3.

Here’s the full list of Apple gadgets that have been discontinued:

  • iPhone 16 Pro‌
  • iPhone 16 Pro‌ Max
  • iPhone 15
  • iPhone 15 Plus
  • Apple Watch Series 10
  • Apple Watch Ultra 2
  • Apple Watch SE 2
  • AirPods Pro 2

IPHONE AIR: EARLY VERDICT

By Sean Keach, Head of Technology and Science at The Sun

Apple has managed to produce what is an extremely pocketable mobile with seemingly very few compromises.

The screen is a fairly giant 6.6 inches, making it bigger than the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro.

It’s also very lightweight at 165 grams.

By comparison, my iPhone 16 Pro Max is 227 grams. The difference is night and day.

The iPhone Air felt feathery in my hand, even though it’s built from weighty (and tough) titanium.

It’s also nice to hold because of the slim frame.

Apple has crammed most of the core components into the camera bump, leaving the rest of the phone’s body free for battery.

It’s impressive engineering and looks great.

Read Sean’s full early thoughts on the iPhone Air.
