Seems like the AI path for Apple is getting complicated day by day. The company faced a lot of backlash due to a couple of features in the past. And now the company has delayed promised updates of Siri for a considerable amount of time.
Apple has announced that all the Siri features that allow the AI to user’s personal information to answer their questions and have better control over the application will be released sometime in the coming year. Previously, it was said that the new Siri abilities will be launched with iOS 18.4 software update in April 2024.
Apple Siri delay details
In a recent report by Bloomberg, it has been reported that Apple was lagging behind in finishing the features and enhancements that have been now postponed until May 2025, most probably until we get to see the iOS 18.5. Now, as per the people who are working in the background suggested that the features will not be released until next year.
Software chief Craig Federighi and other executives from the company have internally said that the features are not working seamlessly. In personal testing, it has been discovered that the promised Siri features are not working properly.
And some of the insiders from the Apple AI division also believe that the features could be dropped from the plan entirely. Apple may decide to recreate all the features from scratch. And the new capabilities would be delayed until the next-generation Siri that Apple hopes to begin rolling in the next year.
Now, it’s no surprise that Apple is facing a lot of criticism after the Apple Intelligence partial failure and they have also pulled back a couple of features to save themselves from embarrassment. It will be interesting to see how Apple deals with the situation and how soon they can bounce back.
