Apple might have new ‘Ultra’ products coming this year, per report – 9to5Mac

Apple just launched the remarkably low-cost MacBook Neo, but the latest reporting from Mark Gurman says the company also “plans to push deeper into the high end with more Ultra devices.”

Five new high-end Apple products in the works, per Mark Gurman

Yesterday in his Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman provided overviews of five upcoming products that he describes as higher-end ‘Ultra’ products.

Gurman is careful to say that Apple “may not use the Ultra branding for all of them,” however he seems to believe at least some of these products will be dubbed ‘Ultra.’

The five products include:

  • The foldable iPhone, which is commonly referred to as ‘iPhone Fold’
  • New AirPods “equipped with computer-vision cameras to feed visual intelligence data to Siri”
  • M6 MacBook Pro with OLED and touch support could get ‘Ultra’ branding
  • Foldable iPad with rumored 18.8-inch display
  • High-end iMacs “featuring beefier processors and larger displays”

Out of these five, the latest rumors indicate that at least three are expected to launch this year.

Apple’s first foldable iPhone is set for a September launch alongside iPhone 18 Pro.

New AirPods with infrared cameras are likely to arrive at the same time this fall, based on Apple’s typical AirPods launch patterns.

The new MacBook Pro with OLED, touch support, Dynamic Island, and more is rumored for later in the fall, likely October or November.

We’re not expecting the foldable iPad any time soon, but it’s possible that high-end iMacs might arrive this year—though no rumors have yet made that claim.

Additionally, an Apple Watch Ultra 4 is expected to launch this year too.

9to5Mac’s Take

Gurman is careful to hedge that it’s unclear whether Apple will opt for ‘Ultra’ branding with these products or not. Personally, I could see ‘Ultra’ being used for one or two of these products, but likely not many.

However, whether Apple uses the Ultra name or not, one thing is clear: if you’re interested in higher-end devices, there will be no shortage of new options moving forward.

Do you think Apple should use the ‘Ultra’ name for more products? Let us know in the comments.
