The next major Apple Watch update will be watchOS 26. Apple plans to widely release the new software this fall, but for now it’s available in developer beta.
Beta testing offers Apple the opportunity to implement developer feedback and eliminate as many bugs as possible.
Today’s beta 3 version of watchOS 26 may include changes that directly relate to users’ input after trying the first couple betas.
That tends to happen with Apple’s software at this point in the summer. By the time beta 3 arrives, Apple has had time to adjust features and designs following initial reactions to their unveiling.
watchOS 26 is a bit lighter on new features and changes than some of Apple’s other OS updates, but there are still some solid enhancements coming.

If you’re curious to try the update but don’t want to install a developer version, Apple will ship a public beta this month after the software is in a more stable place. It could arrive in the next week or so, or get pushed to later in July.
