Apple reveals it has 2.5 billion active devices around the world – 9to5Mac

Apple just reported its best quarterly earnings ever, beating Wall Street expectations in large part due to “staggering” iPhone demand. Alongside its earnings report, the company has revealed it now has 2.5 billion active devices in use around the world.

2.5 billion iPhones, Macs, and other Apple devices are in active use

Kif Leswing writes at CNBC:

Cook said Apple now has an active base of 2.5 billion iPhones, Macs and other Apple devices in use, up from 2.35 billion announced in January last year. That number is closely watched because it signals how big the addressable market is for Apple’s services, as well as for software on the company’s platforms.

Last January, Apple’s 2.35 billion number was up from the 2.2 billion reported the year before.

That means Apple saw 150,000,000 new devices added to its active install base from 2024 to 2025, and that’s the exact increase it’s reporting again for 2025 to 2026.

2.5 billion is a huge number and significant milestone.

Apple continues to have tremendous success with the iPhone. Tim Cook told CNBC that “demand for iPhone [this quarter] was just simply staggering.”

But a key part of the company’s strategy is building on iPhone’s success through an ecosystem of products that all work seamlessly with that flagship product.

The more Apple can convince iPhone users to buy a Mac, Apple Watch, iPad, AirPods, and so on, the more success it will find in continuing to grow its overall active device base.

In the months and year ahead, Apple has one of its most ambitious product slates planned, with 20+ new products expected to launch. There’s a very good chance those new products will lead to yet another record achievement next year.

How many Apple products do you actively use? Let us know in the comments.
